Have fun and join! Beaders Best announces the second contest of the International Bead Award (IBA) 2012 to support the art of beadwork. The motto of this contest is POP ART. „Pop" stands for the english word „popular“. The suitablility of mass consume can be or turn to Art. Strong colors and shapes (two or three dimensional), a certain simplicity, a reference to everyday objects or free abstraction is all possible, also at the same time a smooth succession of objects. Trivial things become original and refreshing. Humor is very important!
An international jury manned by five carefully selected people will judge in 9 categories and assign first, second and third prices. All entries will be shown on the website of Perlen Poesie after the jury has finished voting. Website visitors will be able to vote among all these entries for the public award.
Everyone who works with beads can join. You should judge for yourself in which class you belong.
The submission documents can be filled online on the website of Perlen Poesie.
Submissions can include the following pieces: Jewelry, sculptures, vessels, representation of animals, bead pictures, two- and three-dimensional pieces. All techniques are allowed.
You can include two photos per submission. You can submit as many pieces as you like – only one in each category can receive a prize. We suggest a detail photo and also one showing the complete piece. You should submit a sharp, clear photo excluding any accessories using a plain background. The jury will judge by photos only.
The size of a photo submitted should not exceed 5 MB with a minimum resolution of 400 dpi as JPG or TIFF. Any identification marks are not allowed. If the pictures are blurred or out of focus and therefore cannot be judged properly Beaders Best Publishing (BEADERS BEST Verlag) will reserve the right to exclude the submission. In case of an incorrect category selection we will change the submission to the correct category.
The photos pass into ownership of BEADERS BEST Publishing and will not be returned. In case your photo fits an article in any issue of Perlen Poesie the publisher would be allowed to present this photo in Perlen Poesie.
Your entry/entries should have not yet been/won in another contest nor published and preferably it should be made between August 2011 and December 2012 - BUT if it has never been published nor entered anywhere and is older than August 2011 it can still be entered here.
Entries which reach us after this date will be excluded.
Please note: Photos are not allowed to be signed or marked in any way. It is not allowed to show a person in your photo or copy any trademark. Submissions that violate copyright law, knowingly or unknowingly - for example by copying already published manuals/(jewelry-)pieces or titles that are already protected under trademark law – will be excluded from participation.
